CHRISTMAS PARADE:

Gretna’s annual Christmas Parade will be Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. 

and entries are welcome.

Sponsored by The Merchants Association of Gretna, this year’s theme is “Joy to the World.”

Organizations, businesses, church groups and school clubs are urged to enter floats to show off their talents and compete for prizes.

First place float receives $50. Second place, $45; and third place, $35.

The miscellaneous entry re ceives $25.

There will be a first and second place marching unit selected with each receiving $25.

The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce will award the “Corporate Cup” to the busi ness or industry which im presses the judges the most in that category.

To enter the parade, call Gretna Town Hall at 656-6572 and leave your name, a description of what you will be entering, and a telephone number.

Entries line up on Franklin Boulevard in front of Gretna Elementary School at 2:30 p.m. on parade day. Upon arrival, participants will be given an entry number which matches a stake on the curb that denotes where to park.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. goes east on Route 40 and turns downtown at the stop light.

Bands, church choirs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, clubs, marching units, pageant win ners, rescue squads, and fire departments are welcome.
